BRUGES VENICE OF THE NORTH

Bruges, in West Flanders now Belgium, was the hub of international trade between the northern Hanse region and southern Europe in the 14th and 15th centuries. With the clash between cultures and languages, economy and art, Bruges was the cradle of Flemish primitives painters such as Van Eyck and Memling and became a city-museum. This journey of discovery will lead you through well preserved medieval streets, alongside canals to little squares and historic buildings, and lace and chocolate shops in the former commercial quarter.
